Submission Guidelines

publshd is an archive documenting published illustration work from around the world. Our platform serves as a permanent historical record of contemporary illustration, preserving attribution and context for future reference.
These guidelines ensure that submissions maintain the quality and accuracy that make publshd a trusted industry resource. Please review them carefully before submitting any work.
1. Submission Eligibility
To be eligible for inclusion in the publshd archive, work must meet the following criteria:
- The illustration must have been legitimately published by a verifiable publication, publisher or brand
- The published work must clearly attribute or credit the illustrator - we cannot accept work where the illustrator is unknown or uncredited
- The work must be commissioned illustration, not personal work, student projects, or unpublished concepts
- The publication or usage must be publicly accessible or verifiable (print, digital, broadcast, etc.)
- Fan art, self-published work, and social media posts are not eligible unless commissioned by a publication, publisher or brand
- Work must be submitted with complete and accurate attribution information
2. Required Information
Every submission must include the following minimum information:
- Illustrator Name: The full professional name of the illustrator as credited in the publication
- Publication/Client: The official name of the publication, publisher, or client (not abbreviations or colloquial names)
- Publication Date: The date the work was published (month and year minimum)
- Project Title: The title of the article, book, campaign, or project the illustration appeared in
- Link to Published Work: A direct link to the published work or the publication's official presentation of it (when available online)
4. Quality Standards
- Accuracy: All information must be factually correct. Double-check spelling of names, publication titles, and dates before submission
- Completeness: Submissions with incomplete information may be rejected or held for review
- Relevance: Tags and categories should accurately reflect the illustration's content and context, not be used for promotional keywords
- Professional Work Only: Only professionally commissioned and published work is eligible. This excludes:
- Student projects or academic exercises
- Personal or self-initiated work
- Work posted only on personal portfolios or social media
- Spec work or unpublished pitches
- AI-generated illustrations
5. Attribution Guidelines
- Submitting Others' Work: When submitting another illustrator's work:
- Ensure all attribution is accurate and complete
- Use the illustrator's professional name as credited
- Do not claim credit for work that is not yours
6. Prohibited Submission Practices
The following practices will result in rejection and may lead to account suspension:
- Submitting the same work multiple times to manipulate visibility
- Intentionally misattributing work
- Submitting placeholder, test, or Lorem Ipsum entries
- Using automated tools or scripts for bulk submissions without review
- Creating multiple accounts to exceed submission limits
- Submitting work that violates copyright or intellectual property rights
- Including promotional content, spam, or unrelated links
- Submitting offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate content
11. Copyright and Legal Considerations
- By submitting work, you confirm you have the right to share the information provided
- publshd displays work for archival and reference purposes under fair use provisions
- Copyright remains with the original rights holders
- If you receive a valid takedown request, comply immediately and notify us
- Do not submit work that you know violates any party's intellectual property rights
12. Community Standards
publshd is built on the principle of collective contribution to preserve illustration history. We rely on our community to maintain high standards of accuracy and completeness.
By contributing to publshd, you're helping create a permanent historical record. Please treat this responsibility with appropriate care and respect for the illustrators and publications documented here.
13. Updates to Guidelines
These guidelines may be updated periodically to reflect changes in our platform or industry standards. Significant changes will be announced to active contributors. Your continued use of the submission features constitutes acceptance of any updated guidelines.
